True Believer's Attitude
As a believer, you should always do muhasabah and improve yourself so that your life is always in obedience to Allah SWT.
Ibn Hajar al Asqolani Rahimahullah said:
Peace be upon you
"A believer, he is always afraid, always does good deeds to get closer to Allah, always considers the little good deeds he has done, and is always worried about the bad things he has done, even if it is only a little." (Fathul baari 105/11)
The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ” أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ، قَالَ: مَا لَهُ، مَا لَهُ، وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَرَبٌ مَا لَهُ تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ ”
From Abu Ayyuub radliyallaahu 'anhu: There was a man who said to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam: "Tell me one practice that can enter me into heaven". Someone said: "What does he have, what does he have?". He shallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam replied: "It seems that what he asked was important to him. The charity that can enter you into heaven is that you worship Allah without associating Him with anything, establish prayers, pay zakat, and maintain friendships” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Allah ta'ala says:
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ * فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ * كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
“Indeed, those who are pious are in heaven and enjoyment, they are happy with what is given to them by their Lord; and their Lord keeps them from the punishment of hell. (It was said to them): "Eat and drink well in return for what you have done" [QS. Ath-Thuur : 17-19].
The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ” سَدِّدُوا، وَقَارِبُوا، وَأَبْشِرُوا، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُدْخِلُ أَحَدًا الْجَنَّةَ عَمَلُهُ “، قَالُوا: وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ” وَلَا أَنَا، إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَرَحْمَةٍ ”
From 'Aisyah, from the Prophet shallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, he said: "Do good deeds according to the sunnah (istiqamah) and apply in a balanced way, and give good news, in fact someone will not enter heaven because of his deeds". The companions said: "Likewise with you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Likewise with me, but Allah bestows His mercy and forgiveness on me" [Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
So we go to heaven not solely by our deeds. Our practice can exist because of God's taufik. Taufik Allah is His grace and mercy. So, the practice exists because of His grace and mercy.
Be grateful if we are among those who are facilitated in doing good deeds. Wallahu a'lam. (AM).
